About Us
Godwit Key Company, a new venture by Key Conservation
Godwit was named after the longest flying bird the Bar-Tailed Godwit, a bird that can fly for up to 17 days straight, to symbolize our mission to bring long haul sustaining support to conservation efforts worldwide. Godwit Key is a unique startup designed to facilitate relationships between the private sector, conservationists, and local communities. Our goal is to help businesses financially contribute to biodiversity targets while creating sustainable revenue streams for conservation organizations.
What is Key Conservation?
Founded as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Key Conservation is a platform that empowers grassroots conservation organizations worldwide by enabling meaningful contributions from anyone, anywhere, at any time. Built on transparent, robust, real-time reporting features, Key lays the foundation for Godwit’s sector-disrupting framework, which transforms the very idea of corporate biodiversity contributions.
We facilitate high-quality biodiversity impact.
Our unique platform makes it easy to build transparent, accountable, and locally driven collaborations with on-the-ground conservation organizations to create meaningful biodiversity impact.
The reality is that on-the-ground conservation work is complex and challenging. With Godwit Key, we're making corporate financial contributions toward biodiversity targets easy, effective, and rewarding for everyone involved.

Godwit Key is honored to have been awarded $1.2 million in funding from the National Science Foundation after a nearly two-year application and approval process. We are hard at work using this grant to strengthen our foundation and launch our pilot phase. Our goal is to connect businesses with local community partners to deliver projects that help achieve biodiversity targets, provide commercially relevant ecosystem services, and strengthen resilience against climate change.
